You can play 21 blackjack online for free or for real money.
All online casinos offer a free version of their blackjack game
so you can try out the software before playing for real money. I've
always suspected that the free versions of the 21 blackjack games
were a little bit "easier" than the real money games, because they
obviously want to encourage you to play the real money games. Real
money 21 blackjack online is a lot of fun for people who like to
stay in action.
Playing 21 blackjack online for real money may or may not be
legal, depending on where you live.
Understand that it's not the game of 21 or blackjack that may be
illegal where you live. As far as I know, there is no jurisdiction
where that specific game is illegal. It's the act of wagering on the
Internet for real money that may or may not be legal. In the USA,
there are roughly a dozen or so states which have specific laws
about online gambling, and some legal theorists feel like the Wire
Act applies to Internet gambling too.
Basic strategy still applies to online 21 blackjack games.
A respectable online 21 blackjack game will still provide a
better payout to someone using correct
basic strategy than it will to someone just playing hunches. The
random number generator in legitimate online 21 blackjack games
simulates a deck of cards. Same deck of cards, same strategy.
You can't count cards in an online 21 blackjack game.
The software that simulates a deck of cards shuffles every hand.
Since they're shuffling every hand, any advantage you might have
gained from counting cards is eliminated immediately. I know of no
legitimate way to get an advantage over the house in any online 21
blackjack game.
Almost every online casino which offers a signup bonus has a
wagering requirement, and 21 blackjack play almost never counts
toward meeting that wagering requirement.
Online casino
signup bonus
offers usually work like this. You deposit
$100, and then you get $50, $100 or $200 in bonus chips. But before
you can cash out, you have to wager a multiple of your deposit plus
deposit, usually at least 15 or 20 times. Almost all casinos online
don't count wagers on blackjack toward this wagering requirement.
Most casinos offering 21 blackjack use one of the following
software programs to power their games: Realtime Gaming,
Microgaming, Playtech, Cryptologic, Rival Gaming, or Vegas
Technologies.
All of these online 21 blackjack casino software products are
excellent. Realtime Gaming's blackjack games are noticeably faster
than some of the others. Microgaming blackjack has a pretty neat
autoplay feature. Some of these software packages don't accept
players from the USA at all, like Cryptologic, Playtech, and
Microgaming. Some of them, like Rival Gaming and Vegas Technologies,
almost seem to specialize in real money players from the USA.
Progressive 21 blackjack games online usually offer lousy odds.
Most online progressive blackjack games feature a side bet with a
big payoff based on getting a certain number of sevens. The payout
gets bigger if the sevens are of the same suit. The problem is that
the payout is so tremendously lower than the odds of hitting the
hand that the payout percentage is terrible. Unless you're
determined to go for the big win, I'd suggest skipping the
progressive blackjack games altogether. If you want a huge jackpot,
play the lottery or a progressive slot machine.
